The project brief was to create a simulation of a fully functional prototype for Hunnies Bakery, that their users could easily access to order from, get in contact and learn more about the business.
Hunnies Bakery is a whimsical, family-owned bakery situated in the heart of Northcote, known for its delicious cupcakes, cakes, scrolls and muffins. Hunnies Bakery bring nostalgic flavour combinations that transport customers back to their childhood. Hunnies operate as a dine in bakery as well as a catering service for parties and big events. They wanted a website designed with an established logo with consistent branding, bright and high contrast colour palette, high quality photographs, and organic illustration elements throughout the website to tie back to the handmade quality of their baked goods. They want their website to visually be exciting and express their delicious flavour combinations through a vibrant and well thought out design layout.
My approach to the design process was guided by a commitment to enhancing user accessibility through comprehensive competitor analysis and an in-depth understanding of customer needs. I conducted competitor research and analysed user profiles to establish key requirements for the prototype. I created a site map to illustrate user flow, then designed wireframes to outline the website’s structure. Using Figma, I developed a prototype aligned with the bakery’s branding style guide. The user flow process was iterative, incorporating user feedback at each stage to refine and finalise the product. I selected a vibrant, high-contrast colour palette, incorporating patterns and digital illustrations to evoke a lively, engaging experience - which allowed for a consistent visual aesthetic and strong brand cohesion throughout the interface. The typefaces chosen were both approachable and aligned with the contours of the wordmark logo, reinforcing the design's welcoming and dynamic nature.
